Bartlett's Familiar Quotations App Reviews

If you thought you could replace that bulky volume with a convenient app, dont waste your money (or ditch the hard copy, like I did). Im not even sure that the app is posted on the app store, which would mercifully save some other unsuspecting buyers from this fraud. For example, type in a biblical quote, such as "how have the mighty fallen." A one sentence quote is referenced to "the Holy Bible." Period. No book, chapter, line citation that would allow you to expand the quote, put it in context, or even find it in the original source. This is worse than useless; it is blatent rip off.

The new version crashed on opening even after I deleted and reinstalled it.

The notification feature for the quotation of the day is not working.

Frequently crashes, and currently the text of quotes will not display when a specific quote is selected. The app crashes whenever I try to send feedback. Its dead in the water.

In the past Bartletts was a good app but it does not appear to run on iOS 10 - it displays only blank pages rather than quotes. Last week I emailed support but have not received any response. Today the app asked me to rate it, but then failed to connect to the App Store so I had to navigate here manually. Update: I found out that the blank quotes really are there - they show up when using the share feature - but given that they don’t show in the app to me makes the app DOA.

I loved this app but as several other reviews noted I crashed under the current iOS. This has been going on for a month or so now do obviously they dont care. The question is why?? Update 9-29-16. Now it no longer works at all under iOS 10. The question is, why is it still available in the App Store???

When I paid for this app, it had good reviews, and did what it was supposed to. Since the update, it is completely unusable. Even worse, the company has taken no visible steps to remedy the problem. I feel like they owe all of their customers a refund.

Really a shame that the effort hasnt been put in to update this app for iOS 10. Was a great reference that is now literally useless.

This app was great when I was able to actually see the quotes. When IOS updated a while ago, the app stopped working properly. Now you cant see the quotes, which makes the app useless. The developers havent even updated the app in over a year! I would give this app 4 stars if I could actually see the quotes. There is potential here if the developers would actually care to maintain the app.

This abandoned app needs some love. Wont even display the quotes anymore, its just a blank screen.

I can accept that MAYBE my iPod (3rd Gen/64 Gb) is too "old", but this app is SLOW!!! Every letter I type hes...i...tate...s. And all of my searches have yet to be matched. I began with "it was the best of times" from A Tale of Two Cities, but this app found no match. I then selected the play "As You Like It" and patiently typed in "all the worlds a stage"...but it didnt find a match. What am I doing wrong? It should be the best (app) of times!!!

Ironic that a name synonymous with quotations would associate its name with an app so tedious in function and dearth in content.

I love the app. I love the "Quotos" feature. However, I find it very frustrating that the app only contains a small fraction of the quotes in the book or online site. I would like a way to add more quotes. UPDATE: new updated version (Apr.15,15) crashes as soon as it opens. :(

I use this app daily and can always find just the right quote!

I really like the quote-a-day feature. So far,I really like the choices and variety. Also the fact that you can keep favorites in folders is nice.

The quote of the day feature is great.

Good collection of quotes. Needs to be able to add quotes in yourself. Needs a clouded service like quote freak to store your favorites for use on other platforms. The photo quote mash up tool is nice but needs to let me pull from Albums not just the current camera role.
